Description: This layer shows locations of habitat restoration projects in the St. Clair Detroit River System (SCDRS) initiative project area, which the SCDRS Initiative defines as the Great Lakes and connecting channels from Port Huron to Sandusky Bay (https://scdrs.org/). The Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Framework (GLAHF) team collected this data as part of an inventory to map habitat restoration projects implemented by different programs in SCDRS with a focus on restoration projects aimed towards restoring, protecting, or enhancing coastal wetlands and promoting shoreline softening. Data collection was facilitated by Michelle Selzer (Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy) and was gathered from the following sources: 1) Projects implemented under the Areas of Concern (AOC), 2) Projects included in a spreadsheet from The Nature Conservancy (TNC) that was created to identify coastal wetland protection, restoration, and enhancement projects funded by the GLRI, 3) Projects implemented under the State of the Straits project (http://web2.uwindsor.ca/softs/index.htm), and 4) Projects outlined as potential projects by the SCDRS Initiative. The GLAHF team received the TNC spreadsheet and potential SCDRS Initiative projects data as spreadsheets from Michelle Selzer and the other data sources were collected from existing websites & PDFs with direction from Michelle Selzer and help from AOC staff where applicable. For AOC data, most of the information came from PDFs forwarded from Michelle Selzer or directly from the websites of organizations that implemented AOC habitat restoration projects (Clinton River https://www.crwc.org/; Detroit River http://detroitriver.ca/history-of-the-detroit-river-rap/storymap/& http://detroitriver.org/story-map.html; River Rouge http://www.allianceofrougecommunities.com/; St. Clair River https://www.scriver.org/st-clair-river-projects/), Note that this data at this time only represents a subset of habitat restoration work in the SCDRS project area, and that attribute information represents best subjective guesses from the GLAHF student team given all available information on the internet and from reports, but the table needs to be verified and reviewed by project implementors and the SCDRS Initiative team (including a review and removal of duplicate sites, review and verification of project details, and review and approval of spreadsheet format). The habitat sites GIS layer was last edited 5/16/2019.
