Layer: Shoreline sinuosity (ID: 2)

Name: Shoreline sinuosity

Display Field: X_START

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: The shoreline sinuosity is the measure of the meandering of a segment of shoreline, where a high value (near 1) means almost straight and a low value (near 0) means highly meandering. The shoreline was aquired from the Great Lakes Hydrography Dataset and is 1:24,000 scale or better. The shoreline was divided into 1 km segments and the sinuosity was calculated by dividing the length of the shoreline segment by the straight line distance between the beginning and end point of the segment.
